Hey Ladies!

We're still in the month of hearts but today we're focused on the ladies!

Okay ladies now let's get INformation.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States responsible for roughly 1 in 5 lady deaths.
Yup, we’re jumping in feet first because this is serious! (I ain't sorry.)

In fact, Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both African American and white women. in the United States.

Symptoms specific to women can include:

  • Neck, jaw, shoulder, upper back or abdominal discomfort

  • Shortness of breath

  • Pain in one or both arms

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Sweating

  • Lightheadedness or dizziness

  • Unusual fatigue

  • Indigestion

Additionally, Risk Factors include:

  • Diabetes

  • Being overweight or obese*

  • Unhealthy diets

  • Physical inactivity

  • Drinking too much alcohol
*Overweight and obese varies from person to person*

To reduce your risk of heart disease you should:

  1. Maintain your stress!
Stress and depression affect women's hearts more than men's.
Unfair, I know, but we can regulate it.

  2. Get Me Bodied!
Work it out: Physical activity for at least 30 mins a day,
Swap it out: Fruits and Veggies for sweets, AND
Check up on it: Keep regularly scheduled doctor's appointments.

  3. Remember your ABCS!
    Aspirin
    Blood Pressure Control
    Cholesterol Management
    Smoking Cessation

Heart Health is so important ladies because while it's inarguably true that we slay all day and we run the world, we have to be here to do so.

Tell us in the comments how you’re taking care of your heart.

Be well, my friends!
